THE UNOFFICIAL NORTH EAST HALF MARATHON
You asked. We delivered.
The Deep North Run is an unofficial half marathon from the coast into the city, bringing together running, doughnuts and good people.
In collaboration with Deep North, this is a different kind of run. If you’re sick of gels and powders, this one’s for you. On this course you’ll be fuelled by doughnuts and coffee.
Starting at Tynemouth Priory, you will follow the coastline and river into Newcastle, finishing in Ouseburn with coffee and doughnuts waiting.
This is not your typical race.
No pressure. No egos. Just movement and community.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Half marathon distance route from Tynemouth to Newcastle
Unique start location at Tynemouth Priory
Doughnut-fuelled aid stations along the route
Coffee on course and at the finish (hot or iced)
Coffee and doughnut included at the finish

Live tracking and timing via app so everyone will receive a time

This is an unsanctioned community event and not a formally organised race.
No road closures
No official chip timing
Timing is provided via a third-party app
Participants must follow the Highway Code at all times
Participants are responsible for their own pacing, safety and navigation
A GPX route and full event instructions will be provided in advance.

This event is supporting If U Care Share, a North East mental health charity.
£5 from every entry goes directly to the charity. You are also encouraged to fundraise or add an additional donation during checkout if you would like to support further.

This is a unique, community-led event and is expected to sell out.

Tynemouth Metro Station is a short walk from the start location and is well connected across Newcastle, North Tyneside and Sunderland.
Services run regularly and provide an easy way to travel to the start without needing to park.
